Dance Strategy

In response to calls from companies and individual artists in the Western Australian professional contemporary dance sector, the Department of Culture and the Arts provided support towards the Contemporary Dance Model Development (CDMD) project.  The project facilitated a research and consultation process with the state’s subsidised small to medium contemporary dance sector between June - September 2007.  The aim of the project was to develop practical strategies to support the long term growth and sustainability of contemporary dance in Western Australia.

Under the direction of the CDMD Steering Committee, project consultant Ms Alison McArdle produced the Future Moves report.  The report details the current state of the sector and proposes staged strategies for growth and sustainability.

The Department is currently considering the recommendations proposed in the Future Moves report.
