Capital works

The Department of Culture and the Arts is responsible for the strategic planning and management of the State's culture and arts capital works allocation by planning, developing and maintaining the State's arts and cultural venues and infrastructure. Quality arts and cultural facilities promote participation in cultural activity and enhance the cultural and economic life of the State.

The Facilities Management team is responsible for:

  • Policy context for the State's culture and arts facilities
  • Strategic asset management of the State's culture and arts facilities
  • Support for artistic excellence and cultural vitality through the provision of appropriate culture and arts infrastructure
  • Co-ordination of the Department of Culture and the Arts Ten Year Capital Works Investment Plan
  • Provision of information and advice on State culture and arts facility planning, development and maintenance
  • Physical access and inclusion strategies for the Department's arts and cultural facilities
  • A whole of government approach to planning culture and arts facilities
